Rebecca Russell
Rebecca joined the team at Therapeia in 2010. She completed her studies in Psychology at Newcastle University and is the senior Psychologist at Therapeia, having 13 years experience in the field. Before moving into Private Practice Rebecca was the Lead Psychologist in an Occupational Rehabilitation Psychology service, managing group and individual treatment and assessment programs, and supervising teams of Psychologists, and interns. Her approach to therapy is both sensitive and evidence-based, structured and tailored to client’s individual needs, with defined outcomes. It leans on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Trauma Focused Therapy, Imaginal Exposure and In vivo Exposure Therapy. She is experienced in working with adolescents through to adults and older age, in the domains of depression, chronic pain, stress, anxiety, and panic. She works with eating disorders, low self-esteem, self-harm, grief & loss. With a particular focus on sexual assault, personality disorders, childhood trauma, obsessive compulsive disorder and domestic violence.
Rebecca has an extensive background working with worker’s compensation, particularly in the areas of work-related stress, managing conflict, relationships at work, adjusting to change, psychological injury and vocational counselling
Rebecca also works with children in certain areas of life transition, distress and clinical areas, but only with prior arrangement.
Rebecca is an active member of the Australian Psychological Society, a peer supervisor, with a background in workplace training and teaching.
